Speaking at the event, Phuc asked the province to effectively realize the five-year socio-economic development plan, adding that the province’s development strategy must focus on some pillars such as high-tech agriculture, particularly aquaculture and tourism development, the private sector and processing industry.

The Government leader stressed the need to protect the eco-system in the context of climate change, paying attention to new production models in agriculture.

He asserted that agricultural output should head to international market, focusing on improving wbusiness environment.

The enhancement of human resources quality should be given priority to form business culture in line with international competiveness and integration, the PM said, highlighting the importance of upgrading infrastructure and reducing public service expenditures.

Other measures to struggle against natural calamity such as planting forests and making soft dykes must be promoted, he added.

Regarding transport issue, Phuc referred to the crucial meaning of Can Tho-Ca Mau expressway, asking the Ministry of Transport consider investment in building an airport in the province.

According to the report of Ca Mau Province’s authorities, in 2019, the province’s GRDP growth has reached 7% and the GDP per capita is estimated at VND47 million. The province has contributed VND5,500 billion to the State budget and earned US$1.1 billion from exporting.
