The event drew the participation of former Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh, President of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Central Committee (VFFCC) Tran Thanh Man, local and ministerial leaders, economic groups, associations, and domestic and foreign investors.

Chairman of the provincial Bac Kan People’s Committee Ly Thai Hai said that the locality has a relatively wide area of nearly 5,000 km2. The terrain is spilt by high mountains and hills but has advantages for forest economic development.

The province has famous fruits which have been developed under high-tech and organic production. Once the Ha Noi-Bac Kan Highway is completed, agricultural products will be transported to urban areas especially Ha Noi, the Chairman said.

Regarding tourism potentials, Bac Can has Ba Be National Park which was recognized by UNESCO as a natural heritage of ASEAN in 2004. Especially Ba Be Lake is named one of the 20 natural freshwater lakes in the world. In 2011, UNESCO recognized Ba Be Lake as a Ramsar Site, the third wetland of international importance in Viet Nam. NIKKEN Japan drafted a planning for the lake with a vision towards 2030.

In terms of industry, the province owns vast potentials in the furniture processing industry and forest economic development. In addition, the locality also has mining potentials.

Chairman Ly Thai Hai stressed that the province called upon both domestic and foreign investors to engage in the potential investment areas, especially 33 key projects.

The local authorities pledged to conduct synchronous  measures to support investors, particularly administrative reform, improvement of the investment environment, and business support.

Addressing the event, PM Phuc said that as a province of resistance war, Bac Kan should become innovative in defining socio-economic development and set an example in poverty reduction and sustainable development.

The Government leader called upon the province to accelerate the administrative reform, improve the business environment; and develop education model./.
