VGP - At 1:00 PM on July 26, 2024, the memorial service for General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong was held at the National Funeral Hall, No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong Street in Ha Noi.
The memorial service also took place at the Thong Nhat Hall in Ho Chi Minh City and in his hometown, Dong Hoi Commune, Dong Anh District, Ha Noi.

Party and State leaders carry the casket of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong
Following the memorial service, a hearse transports the casket of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong from the National Funeral Hall at 5 Tran Thanh Tong to Mai Dich Cemetery in Hanoi
Many delegations from the Party, State, National Assembly, Government, Viet Nam Fatherland Front, ministries, departments, armed forces, and many citizens from across the country gathered at the National Funeral Hall in Ha Noi to bid last farewell to the Vietnamese Party leader.
Nguyen Phu Trong was a beloved person of the Vietnamese nation, a particularly excellent leader, a staunch communist, and a shining example who had tirelessly studied and followed President Ho Chi Minh's thought, morality and style, a greatly prestigious figure of the Vietnamese Party, State, and people, and also a great friend of the people around the world.
General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, with nearly 60 years of service, made significant contributions to the Party and the nation. He was honoured with the Gold Star Order, the 55-year Party membership badge, and numerous other prestigious awards. His passing is a tremendous loss for the Vietnamese Party, State and people of Vietnam.
A burial service for the Party chief will be held at Mai Dich Cemetery in Hanoi for senior Vietnamese leaders the same day./.
