The overall plan on pharmaceutical material development by 2020 and orientations towards 2030 has recently been approved by the PM.

Under the plan, pharmaceutical materials will be developed and exploited in the North West, North East, Red River Delta Region, North Central Region, South Central Coast, Central Highlands Region, South East and South West.

Twenty-four pharmaceutical materials will be exploited appropriately with an annual output of 2,500 tons a year.

Meanwhile, five areas specializing in preservation and development of national medicinal plants will be built. By 2020, 50% of varieties of pharmaceuticals will be preserved. The figure would reach 70% by 2030.

The master plan has set to meet 60% of domestic demands by 2020 and 80% by 2030.

To fulfill the goals, modern technologies will be used to create varieties that give high output and quality to serve both domestic demand and export./.
