Party leader presides over national conference to review 10 years of anti-corruption
VGP – Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong presides over a national conference on Thursday to review 10 years of corruption prevention and control.
More than 81,000 delegates from central to grassroots levels attend the event held in both in-person and virtual format.
During the past decade, more than 2,700 party organizations and nearly 168,000 party members have been disciplined over graft.
The disciplined party members include than 170 high-ranking officials, 33 of them are members of the Party Central Committee and 50 of them are military and police generals.
Competent authorities have prosecuted 19,546 corruption cases with 33,868 defendants.
The State have recovered VND 61 trillion, accounting for 34.7 percent of the total losses to corruption.
Viet Nam has moved up more than 30 spots in terms of the corruption perception index over the past decade thanks to its anti-corruption efforts, according to the Transparency International (TI).
The Southeast Asian country's anti-corruption efforts were one of the main subjects that captured international media attention over the past week.

Kenneth Atkinson, President of the British Chamber of Commerce in Viet Nam (BritCham Viet Nam), said that Vietnamese anti-corruption actions are extremely welcome, especially with cases involving high-ranking officials.
Viet Nam was ranked 68th out of the 120 countries in the Open Budget Survey (OBS) 2021 which was recently released by the International Budget Partnership (IBP), up nine spots against 2019 and 23 compared to 2017's standings./.
