Party envisages development goals, orientations through mid-21st century

VGP – Viet Nam expects to move out of the low middle-income status by 2025, according to the Resolution of the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Viet Nam.

It will become a upper-middle income country by 2030 and gain developed and high-income nation status by 2045.

These are the key time milestones as the country will mark 50th anniversary of liberation of the South and national reunification (2025), 100th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam (2030), and the 100th founding anniversary of the Democratic Republic of Viet Nam now the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam (2045).

The Resolution also covers major socio-economic targets through 2025, including average annual GDP growth rate of 6.5-7 percent.

The GDP per capita is expected to increase to around US$4,700-5,000, urbanization rate to 45 percent, and the ratio of processing and manufacturing to GDP to 25 percent.

Major development orientations for 2021-2030

Viet Nam will continue improving institutions in favor of sustainable development of its economy, politics, culture, society and environment among others while unleashing all potentials and mobilizing resources for fast and sustainable development, according to the Resolution.

The nation will continue growth model transformation, restructuring of the economy, focusing on infrastructure and urban development, accelerating digital transformation, and improving the national productivity, quality and competitiveness of the national economy.

Polluted projects will be removed in a bid to ensure the quality of the environment, protect biodiversity and ecosystem, and build a green economy.

Viet Nam will continue pursuing the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, diversification and multilateralization of external relations, and active and proactive international integration, maintaining a peaceful and stable environment conducive to national development, and heightening its international position and prestige.

The Resolution states that Viet Nam will continue handling well the relations between stability and innovation-development, economic reform and political reform, growth and cultural development-social progress-environmental protection among others.
