At the reception for Ambassador Nguyen Tat Thanh, Governor-General Bob Dadae expressed his deep admiration for President Ho Chi Minh and Viet Nam's outstanding socio-economic development achievements over the past decades.

He affirmed that Papua New Guinea highly appreciated Viet Nam's foreign policy and its role and position in the Indo-Pacific region and the international arena.

Dadae expressed his wish that the two countries would upgrade their relations and focus on economic cooperation and climate change response, suggesting the two governments exchange experiences in building an independent and self-reliant economy and promoting international integration.

Notably, the Governor-General hoped to visit Viet Nam when the two countries celebrate their 35th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations in 2024.

On this occasion, Ambassador Nguyen Tat Thanh paid calls on acting Prime Minister John Rosso who emphasized that the Government of Papua New Guinea advocates expanding its relations with Viet Nam. The country is considering opening diplomatic and trade representative offices in Ha Noi soon and is ready to exchange delegations with Viet Nam at all levels.

Rosso said his country would consider facilitating the granting of citizenship to Vietnamese nationals who wish to make long-term contributions to Papua New Guinea.

On the occasion, Ambassador Nguyen met with Minister for International Trade and Investment Richard Maru./.
