VGP – Overseas remittances to Viet Nam are estimated to reach US$12.5 billion in 2021, an increase of 10 percent compared to the previous year.

Vice Governor of the State Bank of Viet Nam Dao Minh Tu announced the above figure at a press conference held on December 28.

Earlier this month, the World Bank and the Global Knowledge Partnership on Migration and Development (KNOMAD) forecasted that remittances to Viet Nam may attain US$18.1 billion in 2021.

As such, the country will be the eighth largest remittance recipient in the world and the third largest in the Asia-Pacific region this year.

Last year, overseas remittances to Viet Nam were US$17.2 billion, making Viet Nam one of the top 10 beneficiaries among low and middle-income countries.
