New Year message to Khmer community

VGP - President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee Huynh Dam has sent a congratulatory message to the Khmer community on their traditional New Year festival, Chol Chnam Thmay.

April 05, 2013 9:52 AM GMT+7

President  wished the Khmer people a happy and joyful festival.

He took the occasion to hail the Khmer community for their efforts in upholding the tradition of solidarity and patriotism as well as their enthusiastic participation in campaigns launched by the VFF.

Over the past years, the Khmer community has worked together with the Party and the State to surpass difficulties and challenges to reap important achievements in socio-economic development, social welfare and national defence and security.

The Khmer community should continue to study and follow President Ho Chi Minh’s moral example and the tradition of solidarity and the spirit of self-help for self-improvement in order to improve their living standards and contribute to national construction and defence.

The Chol Chnam Thmay, which falls on mid-April this year, is one of the most important festivals of the year for the Khmer people. It is usually held in pagodas and on these days, people wish and pray for a lucky new year./.
