New orchid hybrid named after Vietnamese Party chief, his spouse
VGP - A new orchid species in Singapore has been named "Papilionanda To Lam Linh Ly” in honor of General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee To Lam and his spouse Ngo Phuong Ly.

The naming ceremony took place as part of To's official visit to the city state. This is a prestigious diplomatic tradition in Singapore, reserved exclusively for distinguished foreign guests.
The new orchid species was hybridized from an orchid species naturally distributed in Viet Nam and the another in Singapore.
This is the first visit to Singapore by To Lam in his capacity as the CPV General Secretary, marking a new milestone in the Viet Nam-Singapore bilateral relations.
The visit is also expected to cement and deepen the ties between the CPV and the PAP, laying a solid political foundation for the bilateral relationship.
It will also contribute to further promoting cooperation between the two countries in such areas as green economy, digital economy, science-technology and innovation, clean energy, and financial center development./.
