Netherlands ready to help VN cope with climate change, says senior official
VGP - The Dutch Embassy in Việt Nam and the Hồ Chí Minh (HCM) City People’s Committee on October 6 will sign an agreement on a flood control program in the witness of a Dutch senior official who plans to visit Việt Nam next week.

The program is part of many cooperation plans between Việt Nam and the Netherlands in managing water resource and responding to climate change.
Dutch Deputy Minister of Transport, Public Works and Water Management, Ms. Tineke Huizinga will lead a delegation of Dutch enterprises, universities and research institutes to Việt Nam on October 5-9 in order to further nurturing the blooming cooperation between the two countries.
On the first day of her visit, October 5, the Deputy Minister will ink with the host Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Ministry of Natural Resource and Environment a memorandum of understanding on managing the river basin and coastal areas.
A seminar called “Climate Change and Water Management in the Mekong Delta and Hồ Chí Minh City” will be held on October 8 to define the scope of a strategic alliance and long-term cooperation between Việt Nam and the Netherlands.
During her visit, Ms. Tineke Huizinga will participate in the launching ceremony of an initiative to establish Việt Nam’s first institute in charge of climate change response and water management.
She will also meet many Vietnamese senior officials, including Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Đức Phát, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Phạm Khôi Nguyên, and Chairman of the HCM City People’s Committee Lê Hoàng Quân.
