Director of the Higher Education Department under the Ministry of Education and Training Nguyen Thu Thuy said that tertiary enrollment will also begin earlier to prepare for the new school year.

Universities can launch admission requirements and organize selection based on high school graduation exam results early.

Students must complete the university application form on the public university system in accordance with the regulations, she added.

Due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic, the national high school graduation exam for the academic years, in 2020-2021 and 2021- 2022 were held in July.

History, a compulsory subject from 2025

From 2025, Mathematics, Literature, History and Foreign Languages will be four compulsory subjects for high school exit examination, said Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Huu Do.

Mr. Do said that from now until the school year 2023-2024, the exams will remain unchanged because students follow the general education program in 2006.

From 2025, high school students will follow the general education program in 2018. Therefore, their exit examination will be reformed accordingly.

The national high school exit exam is traditionally organized for 12th-grade students in Viet Nam’s K-12 system.

Since 2015, the high school graduation and university entrance exams have been combined into one national exam in Viet Nam. Some universities hold their own exams to select qualified candidates./.
