National Assembly to hold extraordinary meeting
VGP - The National Assembly will convene in an extraordinary meeting on Thursday afternoon to discuss personnel matters, according to the National Assembly Standing Committee.
An extraordinary session is convened if requested by the President, the National Assembly Standing Committee, the Prime Minister, or at least one-third of the total number of lawmakers.
The extraordinary meeting will come days after the 13th Communist Party Central Committee agreed for Chairman of the National Assembly Vuong Dinh Hue to step down at his request.
Vuong Dinh Hue has also been relieved from his posts as member of the Politburo and member of the 13th Party Central Committee, the Party Central Committee decided at a meeting in Ha Noi on Friday.
Vuong is a key leader of the Party and the State. He has been trusted and assigned to undertake several important positions, according to a statement released after the meeting.
However, reports by the Party Central Committee's Inspection Commission show that he committed the Party regulations and his violations and flaws have negatively affected the public perception and the reputation of the Party and the State.
