National Assembly adopts revised Constitution
VGP - The National Assembly (NA) on Monday approved a resolution amending key provisions of the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam at its 9th session.

The amended Constitution regulates that district-level administrations nationwide shall cease operations on July 1, 2025, which means that local governance shall be reorganized into two-tier administration system - provincial- and communal-level administrations.
The move is the latest in a series of drastic changes to public governance in Viet Nam, aiming to saving billions of dollars in expenditure.
NA Vice Chairman Nguyen Khac Dinh described the resolution as a historic milestone, marking the start of sweeping institutional reform and laying the constitutional foundation for a leaner and more effective political system. He stressed that it will set the stage for building a powerful and prosperous Viet Nam where its citizens live in happiness.
The same day, lawmaker also adopted the Law on Teachers, the revised Employment Law, and the Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Advertising.
In the afternoon, the lawmakers deliberated on the draft Law on Participation in United Nations Peacekeeping Operations, revised Railway Law, and the investment plan for the construction of Ho Chi Minh City's Ring Road 4 project./.
