Viet Nam to hold general election in March 2026
VGP - Viet Nam is set to hold general election on Sunday, March 15, 2026, according to a resolution approved by the National Assembly on Wednesday.

With the latest move, the current 15th National Assembly will cease operation in April 2026, three months earlier than schedule.
The first working session of the 16th National Assembly shall be convened no later than 60 days after the election date.
The term of each National Assembly shall be five years, according to Article 71 of the Constitution.
In special cases, the National Assembly may decide to shorten or extend its term based on a proposal from the Standing Committee, provided that at least two-thirds of the total number of lawmakers vote in favor./.
