National Assembly convenes extraordinary meeting to consider personnel affairs
VGP - The National Assembly convned an extraordinary meeting in Ha Noi on Monday to decide on personnel affairs under the authority of the legislative body.
During one-day meeting, law-makers are expected to approve the dismissal of one Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Justice for other duties.
The legislators will dismiss another Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment who resigned from their positions.
In addition, the National Assembly will approve the appointment of three Deputy Prime Ministers, the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, the Minister of Justice, the Chief Justice of Supreme People's Court as well as Prosecutor General of Supreme People's Procuracy.
According to the Law on Organization of the National Assembly, the National Assembly elects positions within the state apparatus, including the chairperson of the National Assembly, its vice chairpersons, and the members of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly.
The National Assembly elects the Prime Minister, Chief Cstice of the Supreme People's Court, and Head of the Supreme People's Procuracy.
The 15th National Assembly has held seven previous extraordinary meetings, including five to consider high-level personnel affairs.
Viet Nam's National Assembly convenes for two regular sessions each year. An extraordinary session is held when requested by the president, the NA's Standing Committee, the prime minister or at least a third of the deputies./.
