National Assembly confirms new finance, transport ministers

VGP – The National Assembly on Thursday confirmed the appointment of Nguyen Van Thang as new Minister of Finance at the proposal of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

Nguyen Van Thang, aged 51, will replace his predecessor Ho Duc Phoc has been appointed Deputy Prime Minister since August 2024.

Nguyen Van Thang was appointed to the new role from his previous position as the Minister of Transport.

The legislative body also confirmed the appointment of Tran Hong Minh as new Minister of Transport.

Tran Hong Minh, aged 57, served as Secretary of the Cao Bang provincial Party Committee before being promoting to the new role.

The incumbent government is led by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh – one of the top four leaders in Viet Nam. He is assisted by five Deputy Prime Ministers: Nguyen Hoa Binh, Tran Hong Ha, Le Thanh Long, Ho Duc Phoc and Bui Thanh Son.

The government is the executive organ of the National Assembly, exercises the executive power, and is the highest organ of State administration of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam./.
