According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT), the value of wood exports has steadily increased from US$1 billion in 2004, to US$3.9 billion in 2011, and US$4 billion in the first ten months of 2012.

Viet Nam is now the sixth biggest timber and wood product exporter in the world and the second in Asia.

The high quality of Vietnamese wood products has deservedly attracted the attention of the US and Japan, says the MoIT.

The Greek market is the fastest expanding market for Vietnamese timber imports, increasing import value by 579.04%. The market is followed by Thailand (121.66%) and Saudi Arabia (85.58%).
