More than 10,000 COVID-19 cases added to national tally
VGP – The Ministry of Health confirmed 10,040 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, raising the national patient tally to 687,063.
The latest patients include 15 imported cases and 10,025 domestic infections in 34 cities and provinces, namely Ho Chi Minh City (5,496), Binh Duong (2,332), Dong Nai (953), An Giang (287), Long An (249), Kien Giang (151), Tien Giang (102), Ba Ria – Vung Tau (84), Tay Ninh (53), Can Tho (52), Khanh Hoa (37), Binh Dinh (30), Quang Ngai (24), Ha Noi (20), Ca Mau (18), Quang Binh (15), Binh Phuoc (15), Ninh Thuan (15), Phu Yen (13), Quang Nam (13), Hau Giang (11), Dak Nong (11), Tra Vinh (8 ), Binh Thuan (7), Dong Thap (6), Ben Tre (6), Quang Tri (5), Bac Lieu (3), Da Nang (2), Vinh Long (2), Thanh Hoa (2), Ha Tinh (1), Hung Yen (1), and Bac Ninh (1). Of the domestic cases, 5,894 were detected in the community.
The national tally includes 682,617 locally transmitted cases in 62 cities and provinces since April 27 when the fourth COVID-19 wave began in Viet Nam.
Fifteen out of the aforesaid localities have gone 14 days without a single infection: Bac Kan, Tuyen Quang, Lai Chau, Hoa Binh, Yen Bai, Ha Giang, Thai Nguyen, Dien Bien, Vinh Phuc, Hai Phong, Hai Duong, Ha Nam, Phu Tho, Ninh Binh, andN Nam Dinh.
The same day, the ministry reported 9,137 new recoveries, taking the total number of recovered cases to 457,505. Among the current positive cases, as many as 5,396 are in critical conditions.
The death toll rose to 17,090 including 233 fatalities announced on Sunday in Ho Chi Minh City (182), Binh Duong (31), Long An (9), An Giang (3), Binh Thuan (2), Tien Giang (2), Khanh Hoa (1), Kien Giang (1), Quang Binh (1), and Tay Ninh (1).
To date, Viet Nam has administered 34,095,243 COVID-19 vaccine doses, with 6,517,771 people having been fully vaccinated./.
