More rice export contracts signed

He said that since early October, two new contracts were signed under which Việt Nam will deliver 200,000 tons of rice at the prices of US $400-405 per ton.

As of late September, domestic rice exporters had contracted for the export of 5,798,000 tons of rice, of which 4,975,000 tons had been delivered. They are expected to deliver 1.2 million tons of rice in the last quarter of this year.

Việt Nam’s major rice importers currently include Indonesia, the Philippines, Cuba and Iraq.

Rice export to Africa and the Middle East has surged this year.

VFA and its members will negotiate for government-to-government contracts.

With the output of 6 million tons of rice this year, Việt Nam is playing a key role in the world rice market.
