Ministry of Home Affairs announces 2026 holiday schedule
VGP - The Ministry of Home Affairs has officially announced the 2026 holiday schedule for public employees nationwide, with nine days off for the Tet (Lunar New Year) holiday and five days off for National Day (September 2).

The Ministry issued a notice for administrative agencies, public service agencies, political organizations, socio-political organizations, enterprises and other employers to implement the Lunar New Year holiday schedule and National Day holiday in 2026.
According to the plan, public employees will be entitled to a nine-day break during the Lunar New Year from February 14 to 22, 2026.
For the National Day, employees will have a five-day holiday from August 29 to September 2, lasting from Saturday to Wednesday.
Enterprises in the private sector may set their own holiday schedules for the Lunar New Year and National Day but are required to notify employees at least 30 days in advance. Depending on production and business conditions, enterprises may arrange one to three days off before the Lunar New Year and two to four days off after the New Year begins.
The Ministry of Home Affairs requested ministries, agencies, and localities proactively develop appropriate plans and measures to ensure the smooth operation of production, business, and socio-economic activities during the holidays.
Agencies and units that do not implement a fixed schedule for weekly Saturdays and Sundays will base on the specific program and plan of the unit to arrange a suitable holiday schedule, in line with the provisions of law.
Viet Nam currently has 11 official public holidays each year, including New Year's Day (1 day), Lunar New Year (5 days), the Hung Kings' Temple Festival (1 day), the April 30 – May 1 holidays (2 days), and National Day (2 days).
