The festival was initiated by Việt Nam at the 10th Meeting of ASEAN Ministers Responsible for Information (AMRI) held in Vientiane, Laos, on November 5, 2009.

The event is designed to promote the images of the lands, peoples and process of construction and development of all ASEAN member countries.

The MIC expects that the festival will treasure the region’s most famous landscapes and unique cultural identities as well as fine virtues of ASEAN nations.

This festival is also a welcoming event to celebrate Việt Nam’s ASEAN Chair and its 15th anniversary of accession to the ASEAN family.

Contestants include organizations, individuals or groups of authors who hold the citizenship of the ten ASEAN member countries.

Each contestant can send, from May 15 to September 15, a maximum of five works for each genre to his country’s national information committee.

In Việt Nam, authors can send their works to the MIC’ Center for Press and International Communications Cooperation at No. 61, Thợ Nhuộm Street, Hoàn Kiếm District, Hà Nội or via email at festivalasean.vn2010@mic.gov.vn.

The prize awarding ceremony is scheduled to take place on the occasion of the 17th ASEAN Summit in Hà Nội in late October, 2010.
