This is the first visit to Malaysia by To Lam since he was elected as Viet Nam's top Party leader on August 3, 2024.
Viet Nam and Malaysia established diplomatic relations on March 30, 1973 and elevated the bilateral ties to strategic partnership in August 2015.
Both countries target to raise the two-way trade to US$18 billion in the years to come, from US$14 billion in 2022 and US$8 billion in 2014./.
