Latest traffic regulations drivers need to know

1. A fine between VND400,000-600,000 shall be imposed on one of the following violations:

- Failing to comply with traffic lights

- Failing to use signals when entering or exiting parked position

- Failing to signal with emergency lights or placing a warning sign

(attention to parked car) in case of technical problems

- Using horn from 10:00 pm of the previous day to 5:00 am of the following day in densely populated areas, and areas where medical and treatment facilities are located.

2. A fine between VND600,000-800,000 shall be imposed on one of the following violations:

- Changing lanes at unauthorized places or failing to use turn signals when switching lanes

- Carrying passengers exceeding the numbers prescribed by law

- Failing to comply with regulations on giving way at road intersections

- Stopping or parking at locations that are not allowed

3. A fine between VND800,000-1,000,000 shall be imposed on one of the following violations:

- Exceeding speed limit by 0.5km per hour to below 10km per km

- Using horn, revving engine continuously, using high beam lights when encountering pedestrians crossing the road or driving on a road through a residential area with active lighting system or when encountering oncoming vehicles or when changing direction at an intersection, except for priority vehicles.- Failing to comply with regulations on stopping, parking vehicle at intersections at the same levels as railways; stopping, parking vehicle at protection area of railway works

- Changing direction without observing or ensuring safe distance from a vehicle behind, or using a turn signal continuously

- Failing to tight seat belt when driving

- Failing to use lights from 6:00 pm of the previous day to 6:00 am of the following day or when there is fog, smoke, dust, rain, or bad weather that limits visibility.- Failing to use low beam lights when driving in tunnels

- Carrying children under 10 years old and under 1.35 meters tall in a car sitting in the same row as the driver (except for cars with only one row of seats) or not using appropriate child safety equipment as prescribed

- Driving below the minimum speed on a road section with a prescribed minimum speed

- Driving at a lower speed than other vehicles traveling in the same direction without moving to the right lane of your direction, except in cases where other vehicles traveling in the same direction are traveling at a speed exceeding the prescribed speed limit.

4. A fine between VND2,000,000-3,000,000 shall be imposed on one of the following violations:

- Driving a vehicle that is not eligible for non-stop electronic toll collection (vehicle not equipped with a terminal tag) into a lane reserved for non-stop electronic toll collection at toll stations

- Stopping or parking a vehicle at the following locations: on the left side of a one-way road or on the left side (in the direction of traffic) of a two-way road; on a curve or near the top of a slope where visibility is obstructed; on a bridge (except in cases where traffic organization permits), under an overpass (except in places where stopping or parking is permitted), parallel to another vehicle that is stopping or parking

- Failing to take safety measures as prescribed when a car breaks down at a road intersection at the same level as a railway

- Not giving way to vehicles requesting to overtake when it is safe to do so

- Reversing or turning the vehicle in a road tunnel; stopping or parking in a road tunnel in an incorrect place.

5. A fine between VND4,000,000-6,000,000 shall be imposed on one of the following violations:

- Not signaling before overtaking or signaling but not using it during the overtaking process; overtaking on the right side of another vehicle in cases where it is not allowed

- Failure to comply with regulations when entering or exiting the highway; driving in the emergency lane; failing to comply with regulations on safe distance from the vehicle in front when driving on the highway

- Driving at a speed exceeding the prescribed speed from 10 km per hour to 20 km per hour

- Using your hands to hold and use your phone or other electronic devices while driving a vehicle on the road

- Open the car door, leaving the car door open unsafely.

6. A fine between VND6,000,000-VND8,000,000 shall be imposed on one of the following violations:

- Driving at a speed exceeding the prescribed speed from 20km per hour to 35 km per hour- Driving on the sidewalk, except when driving across the sidewalk to enter a home or office

- Failing to yield or obstruct priority vehicles that are signaling priority while on duty

- Driving a vehicle on the road with alcohol concentration in blood or breath not exceeding 50 milligrams/100 milliliters of blood or not exceeding 0.25 milligrams/1 liter of breath.

- Driving on the sidewalk, except when driving across the sidewalk to enter a home or office

7. A fine between VND12,000,000-14,000,000 shall be imposed on one of the following violations:

- Driving at a speed exceeding the prescribed speed limit by more than 35km per hour

- Stopping or parking on the highway in an incorrect location; not signaling with emergency lights when encountering a technical problem or other force majeure that forces stopping or parking in the emergency lane on the highway; not signaling with emergency lights, not placing a warning sign "Attention to parked vehicles" (or warning lights) at least 150 meters behind the vehicle when stopping or parking in case of a technical problem or other force majeure that forces stopping or parking on part of the lane on the highway.

8. A fine between VND16,000,000-18,000,000 shall be imposed on the following violation:

- Committing traffic violations leading to traffic accidents but not immediately stopping the vehicle, not preserving the scene, not assisting the victim, not staying at the scene or not immediately reporting to the nearest police agency or People's Committee.

9. A fine between VND18,000,000-20,000,000 shall be imposed on one of the following violations:

- Driving a vehicle on the road with a blood or breath alcohol concentration exceeding 50 milligrams to 80 milligrams/100 milliliters of blood or exceeding 0.25 milligrams to 0.4 milligrams/1 liter of breath

- Failing to comply with traffic light signals

- Failing to comply with signals, instructions of traffic controllers or traffic inspectors

- Going against the direction of a one-way street.

10. A fine between VND20,000,000-22,000,000 shall be imposed on one of the following violations:

- Driving a vehicle without observing and causing a traffic accident

- Driving a vehicle at a speed exceeding the prescribed speed, causing a traffic accident

- Stopping, parking, turning, reversing, avoiding, overtaking, changing direction or changing lanes in violation of regulations, causing a traffic accident

- Not driving in the correct part of the road or lane, not keeping a safe distance between two vehicles as prescribed, causing a traffic accident, or entering a road with a sign prohibiting entry for the type of vehicle being driven, causing a traffic accident.

11. A fine between VND30,000-40,000,000 shall be imposed on one of the following violations:

- Driving a vehicle on the road with a blood or breath alcohol concentration exceeding 80 milligrams/100 milliliters of blood or exceeding 0.4 milligrams/1 liter of breath

- Failure to comply with the request for alcohol testing by an officer on duty

- Driving a vehicle on the road while having drugs or other stimulants in the body that are prohibited by law

- Failing to comply with the request of a person on official duty to be tested for drugs or other stimulants prohibited by law

- Driving in the wrong direction on the highway, reversing on the highway, making a U-turn on the highway, except for priority vehicles on emergency missions as prescribed.

12. A fine between VND40,000,000-50,000,000 shall be imposed on one of the following violations:

- Drivers who swerve or zigzag on the road

- Speeding or chasing each other on the road

- Using their feet to control the steering wheel while the vehicle is running on the road.

13. A fine between VND50,000,000-70,000,000 shall be imposed on drivers who swerve or zigzag on the road; speed or chase each other on the road; or use their feet to control the steering wheel while the vehicle is running on the road that lead to traffic accidents./.
