Localities, ministries urged to remedy typhoon Kujira’s damage

Affected by the typhoon’s circulation, heavy shower claimed lives and caused severe floods in many residential areas. In northern mountainous Son La province, seven were killed, four remained missing and three injured while many homes were destroyed.

Deputy PM Phuc extended condolences to families losing their relatives and injured people.

He asked the Son La provincial People’s Committee to continue search for missing people, treat the injured and conduct burial ceremonies for the dead while aiding households losing homes with food, water and fundamental commodities. 

Guards were required to ensure safe traffic at wharfs, flooded underground transport facilities and in swiftly moving water areas while the youth, army and public security forces were urged to help people do hygienic work and repair their homes when floods end.

The Ministry of Transportation was assigned to check and repair affected transport facilities to ensure smooth traffic in major transport axis in the post- flood period.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment was asked to steer the National Centre for Hydrometeorology Forecasting to study developments of natural disasters, forecast and promptly inform the Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control (CNDPC), media and relevant ministries and agencies in order to direct localities and people to prevent natural disasters’ negative effects actively.

The CNDPC was assigned to continue tracking developments of rain and floods to direct localities in taking measures to respond to disasters effectively, as well as report the PM on localities’ suggestions on support to recover damages caused by floods.

The National Search and Rescue Committee was asked to direct relevant forces in localities to be ready for search and rescue when required.
