The 12.1 km long road will cut across two highways and decongest busy traffic in two major crossroads along the North Thăng Long road, the main road from inner Hà Nội to Nội Bài International Airport, the largest one of its kind in the north.

The road is expected to cut a half the distance between the Nội Bài international airport and the inner city of Hà Nội from 30 km to only 15 km

The US $ 245 million project will get funding from the Japanese official development assistance through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

Addressing the event, Deputy Prime Minister Hoàng Trung Hải assessed that the project is of significance in realizing the master plan of Hà Nội until 2030 with a vision towards 2050.

Mr. Hải treasured the support and assistance of the Japanese Government for ODA provision to the project.

Transport Minister Hồ Nghĩa Dũng said the project will contribute to boosting economic growth and increasing competitiveness in the international market for Hà Nội capital and the rest of northern Việt Nam./.
