Legislators approve Resolution on reorganization of localities
VGP - The National Assembly approved a Resolution on reorganization of provincial-level administrative units at its ongoing ninth session in Ha Noi on June 12.

This resolution takes effect from the date of its adoption.
Under the Resolution, Viet Nam has 28 provinces and centrally run cities compared to previous 63.
The centrally-run cities are: Ha Noi, Hai Phong, Hue, Da Nang, Can Tho, and Ho Chi Minh City.
Meanwhile 28 provinces are: Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Son La, Lang Son, Cao Bang, Tuyen Quang, Lao Cai, Thai Nguyen, Phu Tho, Bac Ninh, Hung Yen, Ninh Binh, Quang Ninh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Tri, Quang Ngai, Gia Lai, Khanh Hoa, Lam Dong, Dak Lak, Dong Nai, Tay Ninh, Vinh Long, Dong Thap, Ca Mau, and An Giang.
Among them, 19 provinces and 4 cities are newly formed as a result of the reorganization specified in Article 1 of this Resolution.
The 11 provinces and cities not subject to reorganization are: Cao Bang, Dien Bien, Ha Tinh, Lai Chau, Lang Son, Nghe An, Quang Ninh, Thanh Hoa, Son La and Ha Noi./.
