Leaders convey condolences to Papua New Guinea over deadly landslide
VGP - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son cabled messages of sympathy to Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Papua New Guinea James Marape over the deadly landslide in the Pacific island country.
Over 2000 people are feared to be burried after the landslide hit the remote village of Kaokalam, about 600 kilometers northwest of the capital Port Moresby, at approximately 3 a.m. local time on Friday.
So far, at least 670 people have been confirmed dead, although the death toll “is likely to be higher”, according to Papua New Guinea's National Disaster Center./.
