Lawmakers vote on US$ 6.6 billion Eastern North-South Expressway project

With 469 out of 474 votes in favor, the National Assembly voted on VND146.9 trillion (US$6.6 billion) to finance the construction of the entire 12 sub-components under the Eastern North-South expressway project in the 2021-2025 period.

The project will span 729 kilometers with a total area of 5,481hectares, consisting of sections from Bai Vot (Ha Tinh) to Vung Ang (Ha Tinh), Cam Lo (Quang Tri), from Quang Ngai to Nha Trang (Khanh Hoa), and Can Tho to Ca Mau.

The East North-South Expressway is one of the trillion-dollar infrastructure projects that will be urgently deployed in 2022, opening up many opportunities for developing domestic freight and enhancing freight transport connectivity in the field of import and export goods.

The East North-South Expressway plays an important role, running across the country. With the starting point being HuuNghi border gate (Lang Son) to the end point being the ring road of Ca Mau city, the North-South highway passes through the nodes of Lang Son, Ha Noi, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Ha Tinh, Quang Tri, Da Nang, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Nha Trang, Phan Thiet, Dau Giay, Long Thanh, Ben Luc, Trung Luong, My Thuan, Can Tho and Ca Mau./.
