The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) hands over 6.3 million single-use syringes to the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology, Ha Noi, January 6, 2021.

It is a part of 42.5 million syringes worth US$2.5 million donated by the Government of the Republic of Korea (RoK) through KOICA to the Ministry of Health of Viet Nam for its COVID-19 vaccination program.

The syringes aim to help Viet Nam fight back the pandemic, where vaccination is robustly in progress, said Country Director of KOICA Viet Nam Office Cho Han-Deog, expressing his wish that the support of KOICA will contribute to ramping up the vaccination against COVID-19 in the country.

In 2021, the Korean government provided 1.39 million doses of vaccines to Viet Nam. In addition, KOICA has handed over 300.000 COVID-19 antigen test kits for the country through the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology, which was delivered by air on December 31, 2021.

In the meantime, KOICA, the aid agency of the Korean government, supported 40 thermal imaging scanners to Viet Nam that were installed at 10 international airports across the country in May 2021 to assist the epidemic prevention and control.

KOICA is also actively supporting the Vietnamese authorities and vulnerable people by providing quarantine materials, food, and medical supplies.

As of January 5, the nation has administered 155,199,486 COVID-19 vaccine doses, including 69,803,846 people received the second jabs and 7,407,700 people got the booster shots.
