'Joining Hands for Her' campaign promotes breast cancer awareness

The Bright Future Fund, in partnership with Roche Pharma Viet Nam, has launched the 2026 edition of "Joining Hands for Her" (JHFH), an annual breast cancer awareness campaign that the two organizations have jointly implemented since 2013.

The campaign comes as breast cancer remains a major public health concern in Viet Nam, with more than 25,700 women diagnosed and approximately 10,600 deaths recorded annually. More than 60 per cent of cases are detected at a late stage, making treatment more challenging and reducing the chances of favurable outcomes.

The campaign continues to promote breast cancer awareness and encourage regular screening, particularly among women at higher risk, helping improve the chances of early detection and timely treatment.

President of the Bright Future Fund and former Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Xuyen emphasized the critical role of screening and early detection in combating breast cancer.

Through the campaign, the Fund aims to equip Vietnamese women with essential knowledge about the disease and encourage more women to seek screening at an early stage, she said, urging women to make regular breast cancer screening part of their healthcare routine.

The 2026 campaign aligns with the National Action Plan on Breast Cancer Prevention and Control for 2026–2035, issued by the Ministry of Health earlier this year.

Through awareness-raising activities and free screening for women at higher risk, the initiative contributes to the plan's objectives of improving public understanding of breast cancer prevention and expanding access to screening and early detection.

The campaign and the national plan together seek to strengthen the continuum of breast cancer care, from public awareness and early detection to timely diagnosis and access to innovative treatment.

By 2035, the national plan aims to ensure that 60 per cent of breast cancer cases are diagnosed at an early stage, women with suspicious findings receive a confirmed diagnosis within 60 days, and 80 per cent of breast cancer patients complete their full course of treatment./.
