Ireland highly values VN’s active role in pushing back COVID-19
VGP – Ireland spoke highly of Viet Nam’s drastic and effective measures as well as its active role as the ASEAN Chair and UNSC non-permenent member in pushing back the COVID-19 pandemic.

Irish Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Simon Coveney made the above statement during his phone conversation with Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh on Friday evening.
Minh briefed about recent measures taken by Viet Nam to contain the pandemic and restart the economy, affirming the Southeast Asian country stands ready to share experience and coordinate with Ireland in enhancing healthcare capacity to deal with the pandemic and support each other in citizen protection work.
He also affirmed Viet Nam, as a responsible partner of the international community, has always closely worked with partners, including Ireland at multilateral forums to contribute effectively to maintaining peace, stability, respect for international law as well as responding to global issues.
Minh took the occasion to extend thanks to Ireland for having supported the siging and ratification of the trade and investment deals between Viet Nam and the European Union and suggested both sides collaborate in making full advantage of these deals to help the nations overcome current challenges.
Both sides were glad at the positive advancements of the bilateral ties over the past time and agreed to organize joint events marking the 25th anniversary of the dilomatic ties in 2021 and to foster multi-faceted cooperation, especially economy, trade, and development cooperation./.
