Int’l tourists to VN: Up and up

VNGOP – Over the past 11 months, Việt Nam has attracted more than 3.8 million turns of international tourists, going up by 17% against the same period of 2006, according to the General Statistics Office.

In November only, the number of international tourists to Việt Nam reached 340,000 turns, mainly for relaxation (209,043 turns).

China continued to rank the first among the countries with largest quantity of tourists to Việt Nam (515,430 turns for 11 months), followed by the Republic of Korea (432,073 turns) and Japan (375,190 turns).

The number of tourists from high-income countries has sharply increased, especially from Sweden ( 42.6%), Canada ( 40.2%), France ( 24.7%) and the US ( 21.6%).

In November, Việt Nam hosted many tourist events, fairs and activities, including the Central Highlands Gong Culture Festival 2007, the Việt Nam Cultural Heritage Festival 2007, and attended the International Tourism Fair 2007 organized from November 12-15 in London.

In 2007, Việt Nam expects to welcome about 4.4 million of international tourists.
