Industrial parks, economic zones absorb US$ 230 billion in foreign direct investment
VGP - Industrial parks (IPs) and economic zones (EZs) across the country have attracted nearly 11,000 foreign direct investment projects worth US$230 billion, according to Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Tran Quoc Phuong.
Viet Nam is home to 403 IPs, 18 coastal EZs and 26 border EZs in 61 out of 63 provinces and cities.
These IPs and EZs attracted over 10,000 domestic projects and 11,000 FDI others with total registered capital of around US$340 billion.
Processing and manufacturing is the leading investment sector in IPs and EZs as it accounts for 70-80 percent of the total FDI capital.
Foreign business giants like Samsung, Canon, LG, Sumitomo, and Foxconn have already set footholds in Vietnamese IPs and EZs .
The MPI suggested the building of a Law on IPs and EZs in 2022, and the issuance of a decision of the Prime Minister on co-ordination mechanism among ministries, sectors and localities in managing IPs and EZs. /.
