Imports of garment, footwear materials up 14%

VGP – The import turnover of garment and footwear materials reached US$658.42 million in the first two months of 2015, a year-on-year increase of 14.4%.

According to the Viet Nam Industry and Trade Information Center (VITIC), China was the largest garment and footwear material exporter of Viet Nam, rocketing US$232.83 million, up 33.16% and accounting for 35.4% of the total.

It was followed the Republic of Korea with US$104.07 million, Taiwan with US$64.27 million and the US with US$40.83 million.

The imports of garment and footwear materials witnessed a sharp growth from such markets as Poland up 191.15% to US$0.45 million, Brazil up 99.7% to US$38.23 million, and the UK up 40.68% to US$2.25 million.
