HPV vaccine added to mandatory immunization list
VGP - The Ministry of Health has decided to add the human papillomavirus - HPV vaccine in its mandatory national immunization program from July 1, 2026 in a bid to prevent HPV-related diseases, particularly cervical cancer and other serious conditions.

The supplement is stipulated on Circular 13/2026/TT-BYT, add diseases caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV) to the list of illnesses requiring compulsory vaccination through the country's expanded immunization program.
Under the updated regulations, Viet Nam's national immunization information system will be used to manage vaccination records, vaccine supplies and monitoring data nationwide.
The mandatory vaccination list now includes (1) Hepatitis B, (2) Tuberculosis, (3) Diphtheria, (4) Pertussis (whooping cough), (5) Tetanus, (6) Poliomyelitis (polio), (7) Diseases caused by Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib), (8) Measles, (9) Rubella, (10) Japanese encephalitis, (10) Diarrheal disease caused by Rotavirus, (11) Pneumococcal disease, (12) Diseases caused by Human Papillomavirus (HPV) and (14) Other diseases as prescribed by the Minister of Health.
The circular also requires vaccination centers to follow stricter procedures before, during and after injections, including screening examinations and post-vaccination monitoring.

Circular 13 also regulates the list of diseases for which the use of mandatory vaccines and biological products is required in epidemic prevention and control, including: (i) Diphtheria, (ii) Poliomyelitis (polio); (iii) Pertussis (whooping cough); (iv) Rubella, (v) Measles, (vi) Cholera, (vii) Japanese encephalitis, (viii) Rabies, (ix) Influenza, (x) COVID-19 and (xi) other infectious diseases as recommended by the World Health Organization and decided by the Minister of Health./.
