How much do Vietnamese factories contribute to Samsung’s revenue?
VGP - Vietnamese factories contributed more than US$35 billion to Samsung’s revenue in the first half of this year.
According to Samsung Electronics' half-year report, its manufacturing units in Viet Nam, including smartphone, consumer electronics and display facilities, recorded combined revenue of approximately US$35.2 billion in the first half of 2026, up 21 percent year-on-year. Their combined net profit reached US$2.3 billion, an increase of 28 percent.
Samsung Electronics Viet Nam Thai Nguyen (SEVT), the corporation's largest operation in the country, which specializes in manufacturing mobile phones and telecommunications equipment, recorded revenue of approximately US$16.2 billion, up 22.4 percent. Net profit reached US$1.08 billion, an increase of 33.4 percent.
The figures showed that, in the first six months of the year, Samsung's manufacturing facilities in Viet Nam generated 17.1 percent of the group's revenue and contributed 2.9 percent of its net profit.
In Bac Ninh, Samsung Electronics Viet Nam (SEV), one of Samsung's key electronics and smartphone manufacturing facilities, posted revenue of approximately US$9.1 billion, up 15.4 percent. Net profit reached US$670 million, up 23.1 percent.
Samsung Display Viet Nam (SDV), the corporation's display manufacturing unit, recorded the strongest growth among the group's subsidiaries in Viet Nam. Revenue rose 32.7 percent to US$7.1 billion, while net profit increased 46.8 percent to approximately US$400 million.
In contrast, Samsung Electronics HCMC CE Complex (SEHC), the group's consumer electronics manufacturing unit in Ho Chi Minh City, was the only subsidiary to report a decline in net profit. Revenue increased by 3.8 percent to US$2.8 billion, while net profit fell 8.4 percent to approximately US$160 million.
Samsung officially entered Viet Nam in 1995, opening its first factory in Ho Chi Minh City. The group now operates six manufacturing plants, an R&D center, and a sales entity across Bac Ninh province, Thai Nguyen province, Ha Noi, and Ho Chi Minh City, employing about 85,000 people.
Samsung's large-scale investment began in 2008 when its first smartphone manufacturing project in Bac Ninh was licensed with an initial registered investment of US$670 million.
The tech giant posted revenue of US$64.9 billion and export turnover of US$57.1 billion in 2025, along with cumulative investment exceeding US$24 billion./.
