Hoi An wins German Sustainability Award 2019

VGP – Hoi An city, in the central province of Quang Nam and Wernigerode, Germany won the German Sustainability Award 2019.

Hoi An Ancient Town

The annual prize of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development is awarded for organizations, businesses and individuals who have made contributions to environmental protection and sustainable development. 

Hoi An city and Wernigerode are the first two cities receiving the prize. The two cities are granted with €30,000 for local projects in urban development in a sustainable way. 

The two cities inked a twin treaty on July 26, 2013, agreeing to promote cooperation in economics, culture, education and environment. 

Wernigerode has called the German Government to support €170,000 solar energy power system for Hoi An and another €178,000 for transport development with bicycles in the city.
