Hoi An city stops tours of ancient and pedestrian streets
VGP – World heritage site Hoi An city in the central province of Quang Nam has stopped tours of its ancient and pedestrian streets since March 12 in a bid to contain spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The decision was made after the city on March 10 reported the first infection case, a 58-year-old British national, who flew to Viet Nam on flight VN0054 together with a number of other foreign passengers also tested positive for the virus.
Earlier Hoi An city temporarily stopped welcoming visitors to Cu Lao Cham isle, Bay May coconut forest, Thanh Ha ceremics village, and Tra Que vegetable village.
Truong Thi Ngoc Cam, Director of Hoi An city’s Culture-Sports and Information-Television Center, said that the suspension will last until March 31 and the city will make thorough preparations to welcome visitors again./.
