Ho Chi Minh City has new Chairman

VGP - Nguyen Van Duoc, member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, was elected Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee on February 20.

Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen (R) congratulates Nguyen Van Duoc uppon his election as new Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Van Duoc

Nguyen Van Duoc replaces his predecessor, Phan Van Mai who has been appointed as Chairman of the National Assembly's Finance and Budget Committee.

Born in 1968 in the Mekong Delta province of Long An, Nguyen holds a Master's degree in Geology and a Bachelor's degree in the same field, along with a high-level degree in political theory.

He served as Deputy Director and Director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Long An province from 2009-2013, Secretary of Long An's Tan Thanh District Party Committee from 2013-2015, and Vice Chairman of Long An Provincial People's Committee from 2016-2019.

He was Standing Vice Secretary of Long An Provincial Party Committee from 2019-2020, and Secretary of Long An Provincial Party Committee from 2020 to February 2025./.
