In the first scenario, Viet Nam can move to a new normal situation where COVID-19 is endemic.  For this scenario, high-risk patients, such as the elderly and people with preexisting medical conditions will be focused.

In the second scenario, the SARS-CoV-2 virus may further evolve and a new dangerous variant will emerge and dominate, leading to more cases and eventually more severe cases.

For the second scenario, Viet Nam will reuse previous prevention protocols.

Phan said vaccines and treatment drugs will be on available and updated to support the prevention. High-risk individuals must be vaccinated and boosted to protect them from the virus.

So far, Viet Nam has recorded more than 10 million COVID-19 cases, including 8,863,044 recoveries and nearly 43,000 fatalities./.
