HCMC to launch firework displays in six locations
VGP - Fireworks will light up the skies over six locations in Ho Chi Minh City on the Lunar New Year’s Eve after a two-year COVID-19 hiatus, according to Deputy Head of the HCMC Culture and Sports Department Vo Trong Nam.
A 15-minute show will be held in different districts. The firework display, funded by businesses and organizations, will start from 0:00 on the Lunar New Year’s Eve which falls on January 22.
Specifically, a high-altitude firework display will be held at the Thu Thiem Tunnel area in Thu Duc City and five low-altitude displays will take place in the Dam Sen Cultural Park in District 11, Thu Duc City, Can Thanh Commune in Can Gio District, Cu Chi and Binh Chanh districts.
During the Lunar New Year holiday, HCMC has planned a variety of cultural and arts activities including a photo exhibition on the beauty of HCMC's daily life as well as photos of war memories; a Tet Cake Festival to be held at the History Ethnicand Cultural Park; and the annual HCMC Spring Flower Fair to be held from January 16-27 at Tao Dan Park.
The Nguyen Hue Flower Street, the city’s most visited attraction in Tet, will open from January 19-26. This year’s 600-metre flower street extends from the President Ho Chi Minh Statue in front of the city people’s committee building down Nguyen Hue Street to Ton Duc Thang Street.
Earlier, the capital city of Ha Noi announced to organize firework displays at 31 locations including six high-altitude displays at Hoan Kiem Lake, Thong Nhat Park, My Dinh National Stadium, Lac Long Quan flower garden, Son Tay ancient citadel, and Van Quan Lake to welcome in the Lunar New Year 2023.
Some other localities, such as Lam Dong, Da Nang, Ha Nam, and Thanh Hoa, have also announced plans for firework displays to welcome the new year./.
