HCM City to host Southern Fruit Festival

VGP - The Southern Fruit Festival will open at the Suoi Tien Park in Ho Chi Minh City's District 9 from June 1-20 with a view of honouring values of exotic fruits and growers in Viet Nam and the southern region in particular.

The annual event, held by the municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development aims to introduce domestic and foreign visitors wide range of fruit from the South and other regions of the country.
 
The highlight of the event will be 50 booths selling more than 150 kinds of regionally distinguished fruits, like Nam Roigrapefruit, Queen dragon fruit, Luc Ngan lychee, andCai Mon Ben Tre durian.
 
A variety of activities will be held during the event, including a contest for making things from fruit, fruit cuisine, an exhibition, a fruit parade, artistic displays, traditional music and folk games.  
 
Music performances staged by both domestic and foreign art troupes from India, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Cambodia, and Laos and folk games will also be held. 

Started in 2004, the annual festival has become a popular cultural tourism event of Ho Chi Minh City.
