HCM City promotes tourism potential on CNN
VGP - The southern metropolis Ho Chi Minh City is promoting its tourism potential during primetime on CNN, from December 12-29, according to the municipal Department of Tourism.
The video clip, which is themed "Welcome to Ho Chi Minh City" and "Ho Chi Minh City-Vibrant City" and introduces the city's colorful festivals, unique cuisine, and novel tourism products, is being broadcast from 6am to 10am, 10am to 5pm, and from 19pm to 24pm in the Asia-Pacific and North America regions.
Ho Chi Minh City was one of the 15 cities most searched globally by travelers for the year-end holiday season, hotel booking data from online travel agency Booking.com showed.
Viet Nam's southern metropolis climbed 2,985 spots from last year to 12th place in this year's list, which is based on an analysis of check-in dates between December 23, 2022 to January 1, 2023.
Meanwhile, the city ranked second in a list of 10 most searched travel destinations by Americans this year after London, according to Google Flights data.
"Viet Nam reopened to tourism in early 2022, while other traditionally popular countries like Japan and China remained shut," CNN reported, citing a source from Google.
"That could explain why Ho Chi Minh City placed high on Google Flights trending list." Viet Nam reopened its borders to tourism on March 15.
The United States sent the second highest number of visitors to Viet Nam after the Republic of Korea since the country reopened to foreign tourists with over 266,000 guests over the last 11 months of this year, announced the General Statistics Office.
Ho Chi Minh City welcomed 2.65 million foreign arrivals in the first 10 months of 2022, or 76 percent of its full year's target, reported the city's Department of Tourism./.
