HCM City, New York establish sister city relationship
VGP - Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City’s People’s Committee Phan Van Mai and Mayor of New York City Eric Adams signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the establishment of sister city relationship between the two metropolitan cities.
The signing ceremony took place in New York, on September 22, under the witness of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
Speaking at the ceremony, Phan underscored the significance of the MoU, which not just a symbol but manifests the strong commitment to bolstering the comprehensive, substantive and effective cooperation between the two countries at all levels.
The establishment of the relationship will create a solid and favorable basis for deployment of bilateral cooperation programs, he said, expecting that both sides will focus on promoting experience sharing and collaboration in all spheres of economy, finance, culture, environment, particularly climate change, science-technology, innovation and education.
Besides, the relationship will pave the way for both sides' enterprises to enhance partnership and cooperation, noted Phan.
For his side, Eric Adams affirmed his support for HCM City - Viet Nam's biggest economic locomotive, to transform into an international financial center of the region and the world./.
