On the morning of December 2, Ha Noi was enveloped in a dense, white haze as the air quality index (AQI) soared to 283 - categorized as "very unhealthy" and the highest recorded nationwide for the day.
To curb pollution and mitigate its impacts, the city will coordinate with the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment to enhance the use of monitoring systems, technological solutions, and remote technical surveillance capabilities to control and strictly handle open burning activities (burning waste, rice straw and agricultural by-products).
All of construction sites must be put under strict supervision and implement stringent dust control measures such as shielding, vehicle washing before leaving the site and mist spraying to reduce dust.
Meanwhile, police force must strengthen inspections, detect, and strictly handle acts of illegally burning industrial solid waste and household waste in violation of regulations, especially at craft villages, traditional villages, and border areas.
The city's Department of Education and Training shall notify and guide schools to limit outdoor activities for students during periods of peak pollution.
In cases where air quality is severely polluted (AQI equal or higher than 301), schools shall be instructed to temporarily suspend or adjust working and learning schedules./.
