Gov't unveils education development goals through 2030
VGP – The Government has approved a strategy for education development, detailing goals for early childhood, general education, and higher education through 2030, vision to 2045.
For preschool education, the Government targets to raise the rate of preschool attendance to 38 percent and the ratio of nursery school attendance to 97 percent.
Up to 99.5 percent of preschool children will attend two sessions per day, ensuring comprehensive development in physical, emotional, intellectual, and aesthetic aspects.
All preschool teachers will meet professional standards, while private schools will account for 30 percent of preschools, with 35 percent of children attending these institutions.
For general education, the strategy aims to firmly maintain the results of universal primary and secondary education, with 75 percent of centrally-run cities and provinces meeting level-3 primary education standards, 40 percent meeting level-3 secondary education standards, and 60 percent satisfying level-2 secondary education standards.
All primary school pupils will attend two sessions per day. Private schools will represent 5 percent of general education institutions, with 5.5 percent of pupils attending these schools.
The strategy aims to raise completion rate to 99.7 percent for primary education, to 99 percent for secondary, and to 95 percent for high school education.
All primary, lower secondary, and high school classrooms will be solidly constructed, with 70 percent of primary schools, 75 percent of secondary schools, and 55 percent of high schools meeting national standards.
For tertiary education, the strategy aims to achieve at least 260 university students per 10,000 people, with 33 percent of university students aged 18-22, and 1.5 percent being international students in Viet Nam. At least 40 percent of faculty members should hold doctoral degrees.
The proportion of students enrolled in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields is projected to reach 35 percent.
By 2030, 10 administrative units should join UNESCO's Global Learning Cities Network./.
