Gov’t to launch month-long campaign against counterfeit goods

VGP - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Wednesday called for establishing a special taskforce and launching a month-long campaign (from May 15-June 16) to crackdown on trade fraud and counterfeit goods.

The Government chief made the request while chairing a meeting of the National Steering Committee on the Prevention and Control of Smuggling, Trade Fraud and Counterfeit Goods (National Steering Committee 389).

The move aims to protect legitimate rights and benefits of both ctizens and enterprises and contributing to raising national competitiveness.

The special taskforce will be led by Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son. Chairmen of municipal and provincial People's Committees.

The taskforce was requested to establish working groups to implement the month-long campaign to prevent and combat fakes, trade frauds from May 15 to June 16.

The government said frauds were widespread and were increasing on online platforms, noting recent cases of fake milk, food and supplement products had "seriously affected people's health and social order".

So far, 1,100 cases of counterfeit and intellectual property violations, 25,100 cases of trade and tax frauds and 8,200 cases of smuggling contraband and prohibited articles had been detected in 2025./.
