Gov’t specifies penalties for distribution of incorrect maps
VGP – The Government has issued Decree No. 18/ND-CP/2020 specifying penalties for administrative violations in measurement and mapping domain.

Under the decree, local and foreign organizations and individuals shall be fined from VND 30-40 million for circulating maps that do not demonstrate or incorrectly demonstrate Viet Nam’s national sovereignty and border.
A fine between VND 40-50 million shall be applied to those who produce maps that do not demonstrate or incorrectly demonstrate Viet Nam’s national sovereignty and border.
Foreign individuals who break the above regulations shall be considered expelling from Viet Nam, according to the decree.
In addition, those producing and circulating maps that incorrectly demonstrate administrative boundaries shall be fined from VND 5-10 million.
The decree shall take effect from April 1, 2020./.
