He said that the Resolution adopted at the 14th National Party Congress set out the goal to develop a synchronous and modern infrastructure system, including transport infrastructure.
Accordingly, Viet Nam will focus on building expressways, airports, high-speed railways, and urban rail lines.
By 2030, the Southeast Asian nation expects to have 5,000 kilometers of expressways, put into operation of additional 645 kilometers of railways including 200 kilometers of urban metro lines.
Le stressed that the development of transportation infrastructure must be aligned with the goal of achieving double-digit growth annually.
From that perspective, the Government has identified 38 key projects with total investment capital of around VND 5 quadrillion for the five-year period of 2026-2030.
In 2026 alone, the Government has allocated VND220 trillion for these projects, said Le, adding that this is a huge volume of investment resource for socio-economic development.
To realize the double-digit growth goal, these transport projects must be completed on time with quality ensured, stressed the Prime Minister.
He urged subordinate authorities not to delay or adjust the progress of these projects without valid objective reasons.
These projects must be deployed in line with legal provisions, ensuring quality and compliance of technical and safety standards.
Subordinate authorities must conduct overall evaluation of economic and financial efficiency of these projects while ensuring the legitimate interests of citizens.
The Government leader requested the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Construction to strengthen supervision of airport construction projects, including Long Thanh International Airport in Dong Nai City, and Gia Binh airport in Bac Ninh province.
Prime Minister Le also tasked the Ministry of Construction to promptly select foreign contractors and consultants to carry out the feasibility study report for the North-South high-speed railway project.
The Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Construction, and the State Appraisal Council were tasked to organize the verification of the feasibility study report for the Lao Cai-Ha Noi – Hai Phong railway project and submit to the National Assembly Standing Committee prior to July 10, 2026.
Le said that the progress of these projects will be made public via the Viet Nam Government Portal.
